At 19 years old, Kody Williams was just starting to figure out what he wanted in life, his family said.

As he had since he was a youngster, he was saving money for his future -- whatever it might hold.
All that came ended Thursday night when Williams was struck by a hit-and-run driver as he took a walk.
He died Monday morning.
"He was strong. He was a beautiful soul. He is going to be missed so much," said his mother, Kim Sandate of Orland.
Cloverdale police are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the driver.
Williams left his stepfather's house at 7:35 Thursday night, Sandate said. "He got up and said 'I'm going to take a walk.' He walked just a few blocks," she said.
He was struck at about 7:50 p.m. while walking along Citrus Fair Drive under the Highway 101 overpass. He was spotted lying partially in the roadway by the driver of a passing Sonoma County Transit bus. He was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and never regained consciousness.
Williams, the third of seven siblings, graduated from Orland High School last June. He wrestled in high school and loved being outdoors, Sandate said.
"Fishing, golfing, anything," she said.

Father of LA businessman (Elias Sorokin), believed to have been murdered, says his son would have forgiven his alleged killers
Father of LA businessman, believed to have been murdered, says his son would have forgiven his alleged killers

Nick Sorokin speaks to the press after the arraignment of Adam Spencer.
The father of a slain Los Angeles man said he's praying for the salvation of the two accused killers and thinks his son would like people to forgive them.
"I really believe that's what he wants from us," Nick Sorokin said after attending the first court appearance of Adam Hunt, 29, and Stewart Skuba, 31.
Hunt and Skuba face charges of murder, kidnapping and second-degree robbery in connection with the disappearance of 29-year-old Elias Sorokin.
Sorokin was last heard from late on July 20 as he drove from Oakland to Santa Cruz.
Police said he had a prearranged drug deal in Santa Cruz, but that the marijuana sale went sideways and Sorokin was kidnapped, robbed and killed on July 21.
Sorokin's body has not been found and police have not said how he died.
"I don't know how Elias died ... and I think that still plagues me," his father said.
Skuba, a Santa Cruz hair stylist, was arrested July 30 in South County, a day before the FBI conducted an extensive search of a townhouse on the 200 block of Felix Street. Police believe the crimes occurred in that home.
Hunt, an unemployed Watsonville man, turned himself in to Santa Cruz police early Saturday. A judge had signed a $1 million warrant for his arrest and authorities were searching for him.
Wednesday, Judge Paul Marigonda appointed attorneys to represent both Hunt and Skuba, who were both dressed in yellow jail-issue T-shirts and pants. Neither defendant entered a plea. They will return to court Aug. 18.
Police continue to search for Sorokin's remains. Tuesday, they canvassed the Santa Cruz Mountains near Bonny Doon, where Sorokin's truck was found burning last week. Lt. Rudy Escalante said teams would go out in a CHP helicopter again Wednesday afternoon to search Smith Grade Road from the air.
"We're not just focusing on that area," Escalante said. "We're expanding our search from that area outward."
Sorokin's father, who has been in Santa Cruz for nearly two weeks looking for his son, also said he would continue searching. Two dozen of Sorokin's friends have participated in the effort, which sometimes crossed areas were police were looking.
His father said the family is Russian Orthodox -- Sorokin was second-generation -- and their religious beliefs prevent them from having a burial without a body. He would like to lay his son to rest in Southern California.
"He's already at peace, we believe," Sorokin's father said. "He's already in heaven."
Prosecutor Rob Wade also said Sorokin's body would be a key piece of evidence in the murder case, but that it's possible to pursue homicide charges without the victim's remains.
Police and the District Attorney's Office have not discussed specifics of the alleged crimes, including what was taken during the robbery and what roles people had in the drug deal.
Sorokin's father said he wasn't aware of his son's apparent involvement in the drug trade. Sorokin was the CEO of a Los Angeles-based clothing company, Kucoon.
"I don't know what he was doing .... He lost focus," his father said.

Search for Missing Los Angeles Man
Turns Up Santa Cruz County Ties
by Jennifer Squires
7/27/2009
Local police are helping in the search for a missing Los Angeles man after people twice tried to use one of his credit card and cash a check in the county.
Elias Sorokin, 29, hasn't been seen since he left Oakland around 8 p.m. on July 20. Two hours later, he sent a text message to a friend that said he would be home around 4 a.m., according to reports from Sorokin's friends and family on a blog devoted to the Burning Man Festival.
That was the last anyone has heard from Sorokin. Police said foul play is possiblle.
"It's obvious that we're concerned that this person has been missing since the 20th," Watsonville police Sgt. Terry Traub said.
The missing-person investigation became connected to Santa Cruz late last week after someone tried to cash one of Sorokin's checks at the Bank of America on River Street in Santa Cruz, according to Santa Cruz police Capt. Steve Clark.
Thursday, a man and woman tried to use Sorokin's credit card to purchase items at the Target store in Watsonville. They were unsuccessful, but got away before police were notified.
Using video surveillance, investigators confirmed the man with the credit card was not Sorokin, according to Traub.
Although local police are looking into the cases of possible credit card and check fraud, the initial missing person case was filed with Oakland police, then was shifted to the Los Angeles Police Department because Sorokin lives in that city, Traub
It's unclear how Sorokin's personal items would have ended up in Santa Cruz County. Traub said Sorokin has a friend in the area and mentioned visiting, but also told friends he was on his way back to Los Angeles. Local law enforcement was notified Monday to be on the lookout for Sorokin and his pickup.
Word of Sorokin's disappearance and pleas for help has been posted on many Web sites about Burning Man, an annual art event and temporary community in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada.
"We hope that he is alive and well, but no one has heard from him," read one blog posted Sunday.
During his disappearance, Sorokin has missed business meetings, which is out of character, according to authorities. His truck - a 2007 beige/gold Toyota Tacoma with a matching Are-brand camper shell and California license plate number 8H92932 - also hasn't been located.
"It's definitely suspicion to us and that's why we're working so hard on the fraudulent use of the credit cards," Traub said. "I'm hoping some time the family will call us and say 'Oh yeah everything's good' and all we have is a lost wallet."
Sorokin is 5 feet 9 inches tall, 150 ponds with brown hair.
Police ask that anyone with information about him contact the Watsonville Police Department at 768-3300.

Missing 11-Year-Old Lindsey Baum | McCleary WA | $6,000 Reward
HELP FIND LINDSEY BAUM!
$6,000.00 REWARD

Exactly one week after a 10-year-old girl vanished in this small Western Washington mill town, detectives are out in force trying to find leads to help solve her disappearance.
Lindsey Baum was last seen between 9 and 10 p.m. on Friday, June 26, as she walked home from a friend's home who lives about four or five blocks away.
An intense ground and aerial search carried out over the following days failed to turn up any clues, and searchers scaled back their efforts Thursday.
But now Lindsey's disappearance is being publicized in a new way, as folks hand out fliers to people driving through town in hopes of finding the missing girl.
One of those taking part in the latest effort is Duane Norris, who is doing what he can to keep Lindsey's picture out there and to keep the search alive.
"The thing about it is, all it takes is one tip," he says.
Lindsey was last seen at the corner of 6th and Maple heading home from her friend's house at about 9:15 p.m last Friday.
Detectives will be out in force at that same day and time this week to see who's around - and who may have been passing through town last Friday night.
They're willing to do anything to help kick loose a lead.
Fonda Voss is making sure visitors to nearby Straddleline ORV park are being reminded about Lindsey's disappearance. It's a big travel destination and one of the entrances to the Capitol Forest.
"The trails are very big. The Capitol Forest is 80,000 acres. Just keeping people aware when they're out on the trail to just keep their eyes open. It's a big area out there," she says.
At the request of the FBI, Clear Channel Communications also has agreed to put an alert about Lindsey up on their brand new digital billboards through the Kent Valley.
On Friday, Lola Kling of Kent passed through McCleary.
"I am so happy about that," she said of the new digital bulletins. "I'm really hoping that we can find this little girl."
Detectives are asking anyone to report if they've seen anything suspicious, if they've seen the little missing girl or anything out of the ordinary. They want to bring Lindsey home on the one-week anniversary of her disappearance.
A tipline has been set up at (866) 915-8299.
Meanwhile, FBI agents will be working through the holiday weekend, following up on dozens of tips that continue to come in.
Lindsey is 4-foot-9, 80 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a light blue hooded pullover shirt and blue jeans.
If the family of Lindsey has any information they would like to add to this blog please email justiceseekers89@gmail.com
